Character Profile #1

Name: Lord Chaos

Identity: James Cavaliere Jr.
- not public

Occupation: Career Criminal
- Boss of the Chaos Organization

Appearance:
- Height: 6' 0"
- Weight: 170
- Features: Long scar over left side of face from hairline, through left eye, to chin. Secondary scar that of a bullet wound over left eye. Missing left eye. Brown hair (natural, hair changes when he needs to). Missing left arm.
- Attire: Suit, dress shirt, tie, dress shoes. Suit is missing left arm.

Family: James Cavaliere Sr. (father, deceased), Joanne Cavaliere (mother, deceased), Anthony Cavaliere (brother)

Ability: Generation of constructs
- Power manifests in the form a black mist from his body. The mist is shaped and formed into solid form constructs powered by imagination.
- Ability acts as a reflex, protecting him from external harm
- His twisted psyche makes his constructs appear as things of deepest nightmares
- Constantly has a form of a mask over his face and appendage where his missing arm should be. Ability swirls around him in a chaotic storm of black horrid figures.

Psychological profile: Accident in past has caused damage to his left frontal lobe. His twisted sense of morality was caused by this incident such in the case of Phineas P. Gage. He is a sociopath and revels in his odd and diabolical agenda of world conquest or destruction, which ever comes first.
- Shows open concern for only other members of the Chaos Organization, he has even shown to put himself at risk to protect them.
- Charisma and persuasiveness, to a deadly degree, is the only way to explain how he was able to form the Chaos Organization out of the criminals that are a part of it.

History: James and Joanne Cavaliere were two of the finest officers in the history of the Justice Agency. Their two sons, both with amazing abilities, were also on their way to becoming fine officers as well. Enrolling early in the Justice Agency Powered Placement Program it seemed that Anthony had inherited his mother's sensory perception, an ability to be completely aware of all things happening within 15 feet of him, as well as heightened agility and James had received his father's invulnerability and heightened strength. They went through officer training and were on their way to becoming full fledged officers at age 18. Their parents died in a confrontation with a career criminal known as Doctor Phantom, a member of the Council when Anthony was 16 and James was 14.
They soldiered on through their parents death, Anthony becoming an officer and eagerly awaiting to work with his brother. On James's officer examination there was an accident in the live fire range. A series of bullets were deflected off his body, as per usual with his ability, but this time one got through, lodging itself into his frontal lobe. James was rushed to the emergency ward and went into a coma for 2 months. This was the birth of Lord Chaos. The damage to his frontal lobe damaged the moral center of his brain, twisting his entire personality. When he woke up he knew nothing of who he was other than that his brother was Anthony. He killed the men attending him and made his way out of the Justice Agency headquarters.
With his twisted morality and ability he turned to organized crime for a way of life. He worked as a goon for several years until he gained the attention of Doctor Phantom. Through him he gained knowledge about his true ability, construct generation. His invulnerability was simply his body generate small force fields around him large enough to block whatever was going to impact him. He expanded his ability to create full form constructs, giving form to twisted images that filled his dark imagination.
With his new fame as Doctor Phantom's number 1 in the organized crime world he started to appear on the Justice Agency's radar. During an attempt to arrest Doctor Phantom a squad of Justice Agency police came into contact with James, now with the moniker of Lord Chaos. Of this group his brother, Anthony, was the leader of the operation, taking on his first big mission as the new Swordsman of the Justice Agency, the title given to the head of the force. Chaos's new grasp on his ability was too much for the force and the brothers were soon face to face. Chaos wanted to destroy the last nagging bit of his old life that he could remember and struck quick and hard at Anthony. On his back and pinned, Chaos's hands wringing Anthony's throat he had no choice but to reach for one of his tactical knives and bring it up to knock Chaos off. The knife ripped through the left side of Chaos's face and destroyed his eye. He reeled back in pain and Anthony reached for the only item, his sword, used mostly for show, and brought it down on his brother in frantic need to save his own life. The blade slashed through skin and bone and lobbed Chaos's left arm clear off. The knife having cut Chaos's mask from his face Anthony could see that he has just maimed his own brother. Not wanting to lose his best asset, Doctor Phantom formed a distraction and made a get away with Chaos in toe.
Years have passed and Lord Chaos has resurfaced. His goal, complete and utter domination of everything on this earth. He has a plan, a diabolical and convoluted plan and this time there will be no failure.

Problem solved... kinda...

Greetings folks!

This is Fiore here asking, how are you?

So from last we talked it seems that my project has gone through a evolution of sorts. Still is a narrative story, still is an installation, but the problem of how to best get the audience involved is being addressed more as the key problem to solve. I have been looking heavily into the artist Deb Sokolow

Portfolio site located at: http://debsokolow.com/home.html

She creates installations that bring detective stories told through the second person to interact with the audience. They move through the space and uncover evidence and interact with the installation itself to solve the story and get to one of the multiple endings.

I wanted the audience to interact with my piece but the monotony of shuffling though papers to solve the mystery would never hold the attention of the average person for long. Now the installation will become a sort of "choose your own adventure" mystery involving the characters I've established for the story. There will be several set junctures in the story, those already established in previous posts, but there will also be parts that change the story and inevitably alter the ending.

Still working on Character sketches
Still reading a few books
Gonna start working on a layout sketch to replace the model I made before of the old installation.

So currently working on some re-designs of characters. Lord Chaos right now, having a lot of fun with it.

Here is what I turned in for my Mid-term, a project proposal explaining exactly what I'm doing.

A) Thesis Statement
Exploring the superhuman myth through new aesthetic means, bringing the extraordinary into reality.

B) What are you doing?
My idea is to tell a superhuman story. The setting is a world where 1% of the population has unique abilities and has had them for over 100 years, a world where there are no heroes or villains, only police and criminals. The man cast consists of 13 criminals pulling a series of felonies with their endgame being world domination or destruction. The story will be presented through the eyes of the police trying to stop these criminals. I will stimulate the audience by making real life items to tell my story as well as having them actively participate in my project by solving the finale of the story.

C) Why are you doing this?
The superhuman myth as it is today is limited and ridiculed as a narrative mostly in the form of the simple comic book. I believe that without exploration into new aesthetic mediums and means that the myth will stagnate intellectually. The point is to explore the concept of the superhuman outside of comfortable settings and forum such as the graphic novel. A combination of illustrative, narrative, graphic design, and sculptural work all used to experiment with the myth.

D) How will you do this?
Each piece of the project will be relatively cheap in price to construct. As an illustrator and graphic designer I already have most of the supplies and programs I’ll be using. Utilizing the resources of the School of Art and Design as well as businesses within Ann Arbor the rest of the project will be realized relatively simply.

E) Where will this be presented?
The project is best presented within a gallery. I will also explore the businesses in Ann Arbor relating to the superhuman myth, comic book stores The Vault of Midnight and Get Your Game On, to present my work.

Just wanted to put this up to tell what I am doing and say why I am doing it.

After the break I'll have scans up for characters

The Story

So I've been laying it all out for a while and I've decided to just tell the base of the story here. It's one of those, "There's no way in hell that is going to work" kinda things so bare with it.

It starts on January 1st in the year 2012 of my world. January First is a global holiday known as Justice Day, when the Justice Agency was founded and such. On this day, three criminals (Lord Chaos, Titan, and Hydro) steal the Machine of Bohnenberg from the Stadtmuseum of Tubingen. Details of this device can be found:

http://www.ion.org/museum/item_view.cfm?cid=5&scid=12&iid=24

This device was the first ever Gyroscope. This comes into play later on.
The second heist happens on February 14th of the same year, Valentines day. Lord Chaos, the leader of the Chaos Organization which is the group of criminals for my story, loves a good old cliche holiday caper. On this day, three other criminals (Pyro, Maelstrom, and D-Rocker) steal the Dagger of the Smoking Mirror, an artifact of which I have come up with. They steal this item on the Pan American highway, 30 miles outside of Mexico city as the item is being transported.
The Smoking Mirror refers to the Aztec god Tezcatlipoca, the god of destruction. More info on him:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tezcatlipoca

Next we have June 21st, which is Father's Day in America. Again it's the whole cliche holiday thing. But really it doesn't matter because the item that is stolen, this time by a team of four (Golem, The Hitman, Lady Inkwell, and Puppet Mistress), is in the National Archaeology Museum of Spain. Here they take Cortes' Log Book.
This is the fun one,, August 28th. When three other criminals of the Chaos Organization (Antlion, Deathless, and Black Rose) try to steal a small statue known as the Idol of the End, a artifact I came up with and make, 2 of them are arrested. I'm excited about this one because I get to make interrogation tapes for the two of them.
Next we have November 5th, the Guy Fawkes Massacre. In my history post I had some info on that. This is where all the 11 other criminals come and pull a jail break on the two that have been arrested.
The last part of the story is the final heist pulled off by Deathless, Maelstrom, and The Hitman. This item is in the British museum and they steal it on the 10th of December. The item is known as the Skull of the Smoking Mirror. Another item connected to Tezcatlipoca. Info for which can be found:

http://www.britishmuseum.org/explore/highlights/highlight_objects/aoa/m/mosaic_mask_of_tezcatlipoca.aspx

So the whole thing is this big end of the world 12/21/2012 thing where the endgame of their plan is to activate a giant Aztec artifact hidden in the city of Tenochtitlan that will bring about the end of the world. I've already figured out how it ends and such but I'm experimenting right now with what to do with the installation so I'm not going to say it right now. Let's just say it speaks to the futility of villainous acts that I oh so love in a good Superhuman story.
